CHAT HELP

  • What is Chelsea Chat all about?

It's a unique chat environment where you can create your own online footy character known as a ChatBODTM. Your ChatBODTM will be able to move around the Chat Towers and mingle with mates in eight different chat Towers. You'll also have your own flat to meet up with your mates in Cyberspace!

  • I am a new visitor, can I test drive your chat as a guest? Where can I enter?

Yes, you can. Just click on either the male or female ChatBODTM on the main page of the Chelsea Chat.

  • Should I give anyone my personal information? Like my address, telephone number, mobile, email?

The answer to this is a big NO - under no circumstances should you give your details to someone you don't know! The problem is that on the Internet and in our Chat site people can pretend to be someone they are not and this can, in certain cases, be very very, dangerous.

So don't give your details to anybody unless you're absolutely certain that they are who they say they are. If you eventually do give someone your details, make sure you let other people know what you have done and to whom you have given your details. If you have agreed to meet up with someone make sure that you never go alone and that you meet in a public place. Please read more about chat safety on www.chatdanger.com and www.thinkuknow.com.

  • What's a ChatBOD?TM

A ChatBODTM is your football figure in the chat site - basically it's an online version of you!!

  • I am a registered user where can I enter the chat?

Just enter your username and password to the right on the opening page and hit 'Sign In' You will be able to enter the chat rooms from this screen.

  • The Chat window has opened - what now?

You will find yourself on the Chat Towers opening page. From here you will be able to see the eight different Chelsea Chat Towers. The red dots indicate how many online users are in each particular Tower. Simply click on the tower you want to enter to join the chat!

  • There are so many football fans - where am I?

Each ChatBODTM has a name written under it (unless you disabled this option). If you entered the chat as a guest you will see the word "Guest" under one of the ChatBODsTM.

The easiest way to determine where your ChatBODTM is in the room is to 'say' (type) something. Just start typing on your keyboard and what you type will come up as a speech bubble.

  • I want to talk about my beloved team - how can I say something?

Just start typing and you will see a speech bubble growing near your ChatBODTM as you write.
Great Control - no one else will see what you're saying until you hit 'Enter'.

  • Referee!! I have started typing but nothing appeared on the screen!!

Sorry - click anywhere in the chat room and try again

  • How do I move around the room?

Click on any space free of other ChatBODsTM and pieces of furniture and you will 'jump' there.

  • I don't just want to 'say' things, I want to 'scream' or to 'think out loud…'

Not a problem! The default option is normal talk. To 'scream' or to 'think' something, click on your own ChatBODTM, select 'Speech' and then the desired option. Now try typing something, and you will see that the bubble has changed shape.

  • I have already typed a bit of footy banter, but I've changed my mind about sending it. Can I cancel the message?

Yes - until you hit 'Enter', you can cancel your message. Just press the 'Esc' key on your keyboard or use backspace.

  • Can my ChatBODTM reflect my mood?

Oh, yes it can! Click on your ChatBODTM and select 'Emotions'. You will see five different emotions to choose from. Choose one of them and you will see the corresponding changes in the facial expression of your football ChatBODTM.

  • Where are my private rooms?

As a registered footy fan you will have five private chat rooms in your own online ChatFLAT!TM You can decorate and design these rooms in your own style - then invite your mates over!!

  • Can I enter my ChatFLAT?TM

Yes, click on your ChatBODTM and choose 'Go to my' from the menu. You will see a list of your own rooms. Select one of them and in you go…

  • Can I send a private message to one of the other ChatBODs?TM

Yes you can… Click on the ChatBODTM you want to send a message to and then click on 'Whisper.' When you type something your speech bubble will be red, which indicates that it is a private message. If you want to talk at length to someone in confidence - we suggest you invite him or her back to your ChatFLATTM.

  • This ChatBODTM is annoying me! I don't want to see what she/he is saying

Click on the offending ChatBODTM and select Status and 'Blocked' You won't see any more text from this ChatBODTM until you uncheck 'Blocked' in the menu.

The annoying ChatBODTM will get the message - they will be informed on the screen that they have been Blocked!!!

  • Can I find out more about individual ChatBOD's?TM

Click on the ChatBODTM in question and select 'Bio'. Information about them will appear in a small window.

  • Can I invite somebody to my ChatFLAT?TM

Yes, you can. Click on the ChatBODTM you want to invite and select 'Invite to my'. You'll see a list of your own rooms. Click on one of them to invite the selected person there. The invitee can either accept or decline your invitation. You will be notified about the invitee's decision by a message. To meet your guests click on your own ChatBODTM and select 'Go to my' from the menu; then select the room where you have invited your guests to meet up with you.

  • I found a fellow fan I really like! Is there any way that I can keep a record of who my mates are in Chelsea Chat?

You can make them your Buddy! Click on the ChatBODTM who is your friend and select 'Add to Buddies'. This person, and their details, will then be added to your Buddy List.

  • What is that scrolling line above the room?

This is our Tannoy system. If you want to make an announcement or have your team chants or songs displayed across the top of the screen - enter your messages in the Tannoy and watch it move across the chat room!!

  • Can I send a message via the Tannoy system?

Yes! You can send a message to the Tannoy from your Chelsea Chat Homepage. You can only send one message every ten minutes.

  • I wanted to send a private message but I've changed my mind - how can I make the red thing go away?

Click anywhere in the room outside the text fields and your private message will be cancelled.

  • What does the 'Lift' button at the bottom of the screen do?

In the Chelsea Chat Towers we use a lift to move up and down the floors. We encourage you to explore all the rooms in Chelsea Chat, so use the lift and hang out in the different bars, pubs, cafes and casino!!

  • I'm in the Lift - what should I do?

Our lift is like any other lift. There are ten buttons - which will take you to the nine different rooms in the Chat Tower or back to the Chelsea Chat map page - where you can select a different room. You can visit any of the floors by clicking on the corresponding lift button.

  • What are the numbers next to each room/floor?

These numbers show how many users there are in the room. When you click on any room button, you will see the names of the visitors in this room

  • Why can't I go to the floor I want?

This usually happens if the maximum number of visitors in this room is reached. If this is the case, you won't see the number of visitors next to the room title, instead you will see the word 'Full'. Don't worry - there are many other rooms in eight Towers!
